Dr. Hal Schulz has been in the Ministry for over thirty years, serving here at First Baptist Church of Oceanside since 1993. He is a Graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary (ThM) and also a Graduate of Western Conservative Baptist Seminary (Doctor of Ministry).

Welcome to the First Baptist church of Oceanside website.  I trust you will prayerfully consider God’s leading for your potential involvement with us.  I have been serving the Lord here since 1993 and anticipate weekly our Lord’s ministry among us and through us.

A philosophy of ministry I developed over the years pictures our ultimate goal as glorifying God and our ministry role as the Great Commission of our Lord.  We view our local church as a World Discipling Center.

  This concept envisions a local church making disciples who reproduce in their own Jerusalem context but having a world-wide vision.

This recognizes that God will sovereignly lead many into other parts of the country and the world who will then be able to make disciples in their new context because they had been trained to reproduce disciples in their own “Jerusalem local church”.  I refer to this periodically to help keep us focused on Christ’s purpose and mission for us on earth.

In summary, I desire to emphasize just four things.  By God’s grace and the Holy Spirit’s leading and power I commit myself to the Lord and the flock here at First Baptist Church of Oceanside to:

LOVE YOU as a shepherd cares for his flock.

 (I Thessalonians 2:7,8;

I Peter 5:2-4)

LEAD YOU within the parameters of God’s great commandments- to love the Lord and one another {Matthew 22:36-40} and Christ’s Great Commission- to “Make Disciples of all the nations”.  {Matthew28:18-20}

TEACH YOU God’s Word in a practical way, which helps all of us to live a life pleasing to the Lord.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17 and Colossians1:9-11)

TRAIN YOU as faithful servants and soldiers of Jesus Christ in evangelism and discipleship.  (Ephesians 4:11-16; 2 Timothy 2:1-7;

Matthew 28:18-20)

Psalm 78:72 is a very special verse I endeavor to follow by God’s grace: “So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them with his skillful hands.”

Yours for Christ’s Great Commission,

Dr. Hal Schulz
